The DAISY Award
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses ®, supported by the DAISY Foundation, honors the compassionate care nurses provide daily. This foundation was created to remember J. Patrick Barnes, who passed from complications related to an autoimmune disease. The award celebrates nurses who significantly impact their patients’ and families’ lives. Nurses at Our Hospice may be nominated by patients, families, or colleagues, and chosen by a committee. Award ceremonies celebrate the nurses’ dedication with a certificate, a DAISY pin, and a hand-carved Healer’s Touch sculpture.
The BEE Award
Much like a DAISY relies on bees for growth, our nurses depend on the exemplary teamwork of other healthcare professionals to care for our patients. This is why Our Hospice celebrates not only nurses but also the care support team through the BEE Award. Open to nominations for anyone at Our Hospice who aids in patient care—like home health aides, social workers, chaplains, and volunteers—this award recognizes their crucial role in helping us Make Every Moment Count. Nominations can be made by patients, families, and teammates, with recipients honored by a committee throughout the year.
